For a shared universe, it’s important to include timelines of key events.
There’s the overall historical timeline of the world building – when did empires rise and fall, when were apes domesticated, when did the choke disease emerge and spread, etc.
Then there are team-specific timelines – when was each player recruited, when did the big events occur, individual timelines for specific characters, etc
That’s a lot of info to nail down!
For now, I’ve started with the most important – the overall timeline of the Powerclash contest.
Timeline of the Powerclash
- The period before Discovery Day is known to the aliens of the Core as the Pre-D Era.
2nd December 1137 – Discovery Day (D-Day)
Ringmaster of the Core discovered Hu (the human planet).
- The period between Discovery Day and Arrival Day is known as the Secret Era.
16th July 1252 – Arrival Day (A-Day)
Ringmaster arrived on Hu and began preparing for the Powerclash contest.
- The period between Arrival Day and Landing Day is known as the Integration Era.
10th November 1984 – Landing Day (L-Day)
The seeds of power arrived on Hu from the Core.
The five team captains were selected.
- The period between Landing Day and Start Day is known the Gathering Era.
22nd March 2007 – Start Day (S-Day)
24 hours have passed since the final player was recruited.
The teams are complete.
The contest begins.
- The period between Start Day and Victory Day is known as the Powerclash Era.
Date Unknown – V-Day (Victory Day)
Only one player remains – they are victorious.
The contest has concluded.
- The period after Victory Day is known to as the aliens as the human’s Core Era.
