3. Backstory – Gathering Era

Mnemon is part of the Yellow Team, which means that they were recruited by the Yellow Team captain, Law. Law‘s method of recruitment was paternal procreation (his children were born with powers) – so we know that Mnemon is Law’s son.

Mnemon’s mother was Law’s wife. He was born as a twin with Hush. His mother died before he turned two.

We know that Law gathered most of his children to Skye Manor, but for Mnemon it was the only home he’d ever known. Some children (runaways) escaped the Manor. But Mnemon stayed with Law and would’ve became part of the Clanna – except he didn’t seem to have any powers!

As the only one of Law’s children that never displayed any powers, he was something of an outcast among the Clanna. With no responsibilities in the family business, Law encouraged him to pursue the arts and a life of leisure. He writes, he paints, he hunts.

It is only shortly before S-Day that Law read something that Mnemon has written – a secret that only Law knew – and realized that his youngest son did have a power, even if he didn’t understand it himself. Pushing Mnemon to understand his repressed power accidentally breaks his mind, and Law allows Hush to approach one of the strays, Jacker, to try and heal him.

Jacker helps Mnemon to understand his power and re-emerge from his mind.
